She is a screenplay writer and producer; titles to her credit include Firaaq, Apron Strings, Coffee & Allah, Shit One Carries. She teaches with Peter Simpson and Sarina Pearson Media and Communication at the University of Auckland; since 2015 they have collaborated on the multiauthor project Digital Storytelling in the Pacific.
