Climate change has not only general effects - global phenomena like the melting of the polar ice caps, devastation of ecosystems, droughts and floods - but also local implications that can radically alter a region's economy. For example, a Scottish ski resort has seen its landscape change because of reduced snowfall and increased rainfall, forcing the local populace to adapt to the new situation in the attempt to survive and maintain its traditional passion for skiing.
