Copenhagen Cycles

Directed by

Copenhagen with its steady whir of bicycles as seen through the eyes of film author Eric Dyer. A vortex of spinning color images of a group of cyclists, recreating the atmosphere of a city where cars have been displaced by bikes. An experimental short film that makes novel use of the zoetrope, a device that creates an illusion of movement within a series of drawings, combined with 2D and 3D animation techniques.

«The process of creating Copenhagen Cycles embodies the Copenhagen lifestyle: both are tactile. The bicycle-riding, café-going, park-lounging existence has one touching and breathing in one's surroundings, just as the footage-collecting, papercutting, and assemblage stages of my process do. This was all especially significant for me personally, since I come from a society that is often sealed-off and separated by the automobile».
