Nocturnes

Directed by

In the nighttime dark of the dense forest of eastern Himalaya, hundreds of moths are attracted by the light coming from light screens set up by a researcher and a young boy from the Bugun indigenous community. The nocturnal insects can be studied in this way, though they account for only a tiny part of the vast biodiversity of the species and reveal a piece of the history of our planet. The two researchers invite us to immerse ourselves in sounds, images, and patterns, to take a closer look at nature’s intricate connections, and to reflect on the limits and risks of an anthropocentric view of the world.
