Sacred Stones

Directed by

Regarded as the white oil of Palestine, highly prized Palestine natural stone is exported worldwide. The problem is that its management is in the hands of the Israelis and that it is often used in the illegal construction of buildings in the occupied territories. In the cities and refugee camps where the stone is quarried, the environmental, economic and social costs of labor are high. But complaints lead nowhere and protests are quashed by the Israeli army; the international community reacts with silence and the Palestinian authorities with indifference, unable to change the course this industry has taken.
