The Secret Life of Bees

Directed by

South Carolina, 1964. 14-year-old Lily Owens, whose mother died when she was 4 years old, lives a solitary life in a difficult relationship with her crude, violent father. To flee the sad circumstances, together with her governess, she leaves her father’s farm to retrace the mysterious path of her mother. This leads her to the town of Tiburon, where she meets the Boatwright sisters and learns of the fascinating world of apiculture. The days spent with the bees, honey, and the three eccentric sisters will help her find peace with herself.
