Just outside the entrance to the Tusco-Emilian Apennine National Park in the upper Enza valley, the residents of a hamlet have saved it from being abandoned by forming a community cooperative. The Valle dei Cavallieri cooperative runs a coffee shop, an agritourism farm, and a grocery store. The cooperative also promotes tourism, sheep and goat breeding, maintenance of the land, and operates a park visitor center.
