Wolkenbügel

Directed by

Crane operator Hermann Wallner's "daily view of the world" offers him a landscape surrounded by lattice girders and metal structures. Although his movements are limited to minor gestures, his job is a precision one, producing monumental effects. Alexander Binder and Stefan Hafner have conveyed this image of the world through a few careful shots, trying to reproduce the coordination of a crane operator's movements and vision. In a very economical but effective way, the camera movements could give the impression of a cold mechanic grandeur, if there wasn't the human counterpart, represented by the man's voice off.
