Vietato respirare

Directed by

A journey to the center of Campania's garbage guided by residents' protests. Images of Naples and its outlying neighbourhoods of Pianura, Taverna del Re and Monteruscello tell a stark tale of an area on the brink of environmental disaster: mountains of trash, contaminated farmlands, illegal dumping sites, infiltration of dioxin and other poisonous toxins.

«Driven by the urge to break through to the other side of the TV screen, we wanted to pick up on the "scent of news" rather than just watch what was happening in Naples. Working on a tiny indie budget, we followed our instincts. The result is an impressionistic documentary, filmed without advanced planning, that shows all the good and bad points of a "light" production. No Breathing is a labor of love for Naples and an alarm signal for us all».
