Cresciuto in India, si laurea al California Institute of The Arts in Film and Video. Sempre al CalArts studia estetica e politica. Machines, primo lungometraggio, è presentato all'IDFA e al Sundance Film Festival, dove riceve il premio speciale della Giuria per la miglior fotografia.
